Many enterprises work daily with Zebra devices to empower their mobile workforce. As part of our efforts to expand Citrix Endpoint Management support for OEMConfig with Android Enterprise, we are excited to announce support for managing Zebra devices.

Zebra is one of the leading manufacturers of ruggedized devices for those who work on the frontline in retail, healthcare, transportation and logistics, manufacturing, and other industries.

With OEMConfig and your Zebra device, you can take advantage of some of the great features offered with this configuration, including:

  • Standardized architecture implementation of OEM-specific configurable features
  • Every API supported by the OEM is available in the UEM console out of the box
  • Support for new features and functionality immediately after updates are provided by the OEM
  • Support for a Google Play deployment model for the OEMConfig app

Here’s a good example of how simple it is to block the front-facing camera with OEMConfig on your Zebra devices:

First, on the Citrix Endpoint Management console start with publishing the Zebra OEMConfig powered by MX app for your Android Enterprise platform.

Second, Create the policy for Android Enterprise Managed Configuration and select the Zebra OEMConfig app you recently published.

Third, add a configuration and setup the restriction you want to apply on the device. In this case we can set Use Of Front Camera to off and save it. Once everything is confirmed, simply apply this policy to a delivery group and you’re done.

Here’s what a Zebra device looks like with this policy deployed. Notice the error we get when trying to use the front-facing camera.

Because these restrictions have been set up using OEMConfig, any updates available such as new restrictions will automatically be made available with a simple application update.

Through our partnership with Zebra, we’ll continue to add more capabilities and support for managing Zebra devices. Learn more about Zebra and get details on Zebra OEM Config.
