We are pleased to announce the general availability of the Citrix Mobile Application Management (MAM) SDK for the following platforms.

  • Android:
    • Native-Java
    • Cordova
    • Xamarin and Xamarin.Forms
  • iOS Native (Objective-C and Swift)

Support for iOS Cordova and Xamarin and Xamarin.Forms is planned for early 2021.

The new Citrix Mobile Application Management (MAM) SDK release enables customers to fill the gaps not covered with platform MAM deployments like Android Enterprise. The SDK will enable app developers to use cross-platform development frameworks to integrate their apps with the MAM SDK to provide MDX policy functionality to end-users.

A great way to think about this is in the context of device compliance. Device compliance is natively available with Android Enterprise but not with iOS. If device compliance is needed to run your enterprise app with iOS, you should implement the MAM SDK with this app.

Admins for iOS can apply more than 45 restrictions with the MAM SDK when paired with iOS User Enrollment (MDM enrolled), ensuring no security gaps in your deployment.

Another great feature is the flexibility of the MAM SDK design. Developers have the freedom to include only the desired libraries for their applications. For example, if your app only requires micro VPN functionality to tunnel to on-premises resources using Citrix Gateway, implement just that library from the MAM SDK to your app, and you’re on your way. This does away with the additional in-binary and runtime footprint of your app, making it more robust, secure, and modular, without compromising on user experience and security.

The Citrix apps development team also uses the MAM SDK for mobile productivity app development, allowing for the same experience across all Citrix mobile productivity apps.

With the MAM SDK release and focus to take more of a platform MAM approach, I also want to remind customers about the deprecation of our MDX toolkit and MDX wrapping as a service in September of 2021 and the end of maintenance in July of 2021. The new Mobile Application Management (MAM) SDK will replace these services and provide support for areas of MDX functionality that are not covered by iOS or Android platforms.

To make the transition as smooth as possible from traditional MDX wrapping to the new MAM SDK, we have code samples, test apps, documentation, and more on our developer portal, where you can also download the SDK. Be sure to check it out our newly available developer community where you can share information with our team and stay up to date!
